Dr. Zoe Overton, M.A., Psy.D. | Postdoctoral Psychological Fellow

Dr. Zoe Overton (she/her) is a postdoctoral fellow at California Counseling Clinics, supervised by Dr. Melinda Wilson PSY34651. Dr. Overton specializes in working with individuals navigating trauma, identity development, life transitions, relationship concerns, and experiences that can leave them feeling disconnected from themselves or uncertain about how to move forward.

Dr. Overton approaches therapy as a space for meaningful self-exploration and lasting change. She integrates evidence-based trauma treatments with process-focused approaches, exploring how past experiences, relationships, culture, and identity shape the way we understand ourselves and relate to the world.

Her clinical interests include trauma and posttraumatic recovery, identity formation, interpersonal patterns, leadership, and the process of making meaning from difficult experiences. She is passionate about helping clients deepen self-understanding, reconnect with their values, and develop greater emotional flexibility and authenticity.

Dr. Overton completed her APA-accredited doctoral internship at the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System in Honolulu, where she received specialized training in trauma-focused psychotherapy, anxiety treatment, substance use and co-occurring disorders, triage, and clients with complex clinical needs. Her doctoral research explored healing in post-apartheid South Africa, reflecting her broader interest in trauma, identity, culture, meaning-making, and the processes through which individuals and communities heal.
